Union Health Ministry has decided to provide health insurance of ₹ 500000 to 4.80 lakh registered transgenders of the country under Ayushman Bharat Yojana 2023. An agreement has been signed between the National Health Authority and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on this issue on Wednesday, 24 August 2023. According to this agreement, the expenditure on health insurance of transgenders will be borne by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The list of 4.80 lakh transgenders registered by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has been included in the Ayushman Bharat scheme. So that now transgenders will be able to get their Ayushman Bharat card directly from the National Health Authority.

If a transgender is not registered under the Ministry of Social Justice and wants to take advantage of PMJAY, he must first register his name with the Ministry of Social Justice. After that his name will automatically reach the National Health Authority.

35 lakh cards provided under Ayushman CAPF scheme
